On March 8, 2023, five of the six defendants on trial for the attack on the women’s and LGBTI+ demonstration in Erzincan were acquitted; one defendant was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison with a discount for “threatening”. Women’s organizations criticized impunity and reacted to the verdict.
