Dilan Polat, Engin Polat, İrem Derici, Hadise, Demet Evgar and some other names were called to testify within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office Smuggling, Narcotics and Economic Crimes Bureau. The celebrities were taken to the Provincial Gendarmerie Command in the morning and brought to the Forensic Medicine Institute in the afternoon.
Lawyer Deniz Yazgan said, “The decision to bring them in by force can only be issued by a judge or prosecutor. Law enforcement cannot forcibly take a person from their home on their own initiative.” Yazgan stated that taking a blood sample without the person’s consent violates the Nemo Tenetur principle, which means that “no one can be forced to create evidence to incriminate themselves”.
Yazgan reminded the ECHR’s Jalloh v. Germany decision and said, “Forced sampling is a practice that violates human dignity.”
