The lawsuit filed against Muhterem Çıtanak, who was fired from a shipyard in Karamürsel district of Kocaeli due to his social media posts and whose home was raided by the police, due to “insulting the President” was concluded with acquittal in the first hearing. Speaking after the hearing at Karamürsel Criminal Court of First Instance, Çıtanak stated, “If a person is both a political party leader and a President, why are criticisms against him considered insults against his position? Instead of filing lawsuits against everyone, the Justice and Development Party (AKP) must hear people’s screams.”
