A lawsuit was filed against 19 young people who were detained during the “Standing Man” protest in Taksim Square on the 12th anniversary of the Gezi Park protests. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office claimed that the youth had violated Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations and demanded that they appear before a judge at Istanbul 5th Criminal Court of First Instance on October 8. The indictment alleged that the youth “acted together within a certain organization” and did not disperse despite police warnings.
