The lawsuit filed by Ahmet Türk against the Ministry of Interior’s appointment of a trustee to the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality was dismissed by the administrative courts. In its ruling on November 17, the Mardin 1st Administrative Court cited the 10-year prison sentence handed down to Türk in the Kobanî case, which has not yet been finalized. The court argued that this sentence raised serious doubts about whether he could faithfully perform his duties. Türk’s request for a stay of execution was also rejected by the Antep Regional Administrative Court on December 25. With this decision, the trustee appointment at the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality continued.
