KRT TV owner Fırat Bozfırat filed a complaint against journalists who reported on employees’ wage protests and criticism of management. Bozfırat reported the journalists to the prosecutor’s office on charges of “violating the privacy of private life,” “providing and obtaining data in violation of the law,” “disturbing the peace and quiet,” and “inciting the public to hatred and hostility.”
As part of the complaint, BirGün Editor-in-Chief Sefer Selçuk Özbek, BirGün Managing Editor Gökay Başcan, and T24 Editor-in-Chief Candan Yıldız gave statements.
The reason for the charges against the journalists was their reporting on the statements and actions taken by KRT TV employees who had not been paid for months.
