Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Central Council Chair Şebnem Korur Fincancı was sentenced to 7080 Turkish Liras of judicial fine at Istanbul Anatolian 42nd Criminal Court of First Instance due to insulting Erdoğan, who was the Prime Minister of the time, through a tweet she posted during the Gezi Park protests.
Fincancı stated, “There is no insult here, there is a fact… Because he said, ‘I gave the order,’ we stated that the order of massacre was issued by Erdoğan and that the police is working hard to fulfill his order. We have expressed a fact here. However, expressing facts is an issue and a reason for punishment in this country for a long time now.”
