In the lawsuit filed against Yeni Yaşam Newspaper editor Reyhan Hacıoğlu due to “being an illegal organization member”, the court ruled for the continuation of judicial control measures.
Hacıoğlu was detained in Van on January 17, 2025 as part of an Istanbul-based investigation and was arrested on January 20 along with five other journalists.
Hacıoğlu did not attend the hearing held at Van 2nd High Criminal Court, while his lawyer Nazmi Ayaz was present. The court ruled to continue the ban on Hacıoğlu’s travel abroad.
The court also ruled that Welat Ekin, the owner of Güncel Medya Prodüksiyon (Güncel Media Production), where Hacıoğlu had a program, be forcibly brought to the next hearing.
The court ruled to wait for the expert report and adjourned the hearing to January 6, 2026.
