Journalists arrested for an action planned in Şişhane to commemorate journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, who were killed while covering news in Syria, were tried at the Istanbul 39th Criminal Court of First Instance. Zeynep Kuray, Yadigar Aygün, Mahsun Sağlam, Pelin Laçin, and Yağmur Filiz were charged with violating Law No. 2911. The journalists stated that they were detained before the protest began, held in handcuffs for hours, and subjected to ill-treatment; they demanded that the police officers who detained them be tried for torture. The court lifted the judicial control measures against the defendants and postponed the next hearing to May 8, 2026.
