The summary judgement of the lawsuit filed against Dicle Media News Agency reporters Erdoğan Alayumat and Nuri Akman was held today at Hatay 2nd Assize Court. Dicle Media News Agency was previously shut down with an emergency decree. The court issued the acquittal of the two journalists of the charges of “illegal organization membership” and “espionage” related to their news coverage and photographs they have taken. On the other hand, the court made a criminal complaint at the Prosecutor’s Office against Akman with the allegation of “making illegal organization propaganda” due to his social media posts and against Alayumat with the allegation of “taking photographs of military forbidden zones without permission.” Alayumat had remained under arrest for ten months within the lawsuit and was released in May 2018.
