Journalist Yıldız Tar was released after 102 days after being arrested on charges of “membership in an illegal organization” in the Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) investigation. In a statement released after her release, Tar said that journalists in Turkey are keeping vigil in Silivri and that they are struggling with detention instead of reporting news. Stating that his news from 12 years ago and his phone calls with the editor were considered as criminal evidence, Tar said, “It was unlawful in itself to file a lawsuit from here.” Drawing attention to the importance of journalist solidarity in prison, Tar said that he will now write outside what he hears inside.
