In the retrial of journalist Murat Aksoy on charges of “knowingly and willingly aiding an illegal organization”, the prosecutor demanded a sentence in line with the previous verdict.
In the retrial following the Constitutional Court’s violation decision, Aksoy stated that his articles were taken out of context and accused of a crime and demanded his acquittal.
The court accepted the request for more time for defense and adjourned the hearing to December 9.
The Constitutional Court had previously ruled that Aksoy’s sentencing was a violation of freedom of expression and press freedoms.
