The appeal against the decision to postpone the release of journalist Ali Barış Kurt for six months has been rejected. Kurt, who was arrested on February 8 after the Supreme Court upheld his two-year and four-month prison sentence for “organization propaganda” in connection with his professional activities, was denied release by the Maltepe No. 1 L-Type Closed Prison Administration and Observation Board on the grounds that he was “not remorseful” and “posed a risk of harm to others.” The Anatolia 4th Enforcement Court upheld the Board’s decision and rejected the appeal. The grounds for the decision included the allegation that Kurt had corresponded with prisoners in other prisons. Kurt denied this allegation and announced that he would continue his journalistic activities.
