The second hearing in the trial of Swedish journalist Joakim Medin, who is accused of “membership in an armed terrorist organization,” was held on January 8 at the Istanbul 13th Heavy Penal Court. The court decided to postpone the hearing until May 7, 2026, pending a response to a letter rogatory sent to Sweden and inquiries into the fate of digital materials. Medin was detained at Istanbul Airport on March 27, 2025, arrested on March 28, and released from custody after 50 days. Medin had previously been sentenced to 11 months and 20 days in prison on charges of “insulting the president.”
