On June 3, the Tunceli 1st High Criminal Court sentenced PİRHA reporter Cihan Berk to 6 years and 3 months in prison on charges of “membership in an organization.” The court ordered Berk’s release but prohibited him from leaving the country. Berk and his lawyers argued that the activities at the center of the trial fell within the scope of journalism.
