In Samsun, a second assault incident took place against Mustafa Candal, the AKP Mayor of Tekkeköy. UAV reporter Ünsal Karka was attacked while covering the municipal council meeting, when he tried to cover the area that was the subject of the “encrypted doors” news. He was allegedly punched by the municipality’s unofficial Purchasing Manager Hakan Kakal and beaten by the Mayor’s driver. The journalist, whose phone was also confiscated, went to the police station and filed a complaint. While Mayor Candal said he was not aware of the incident, Samsun 19 Mayıs Journalists Association reacted strongly to the attack.
