The Ankara Branch of the Contemporary Journalists Association (ÇGD) said Sözcü TV reporter and branch executive Bala Ateş Irmak was physically intervened against by a bodyguard of CHP Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu while covering a news event. The association also said CHP Parliamentary Group Press Adviser Fatih Ertürk verbally intervened against the journalist by telling her, “Don’t be insolent.” Irmak said she was interrupted while speaking with Kılıçdaroğlu and that, after the interview, when she asked Ertürk not to interrupt her again, he responded with that remark. ÇGD condemned the physical and verbal intervention against the journalist. Kılıçdaroğlu apologized to Irmak after the incident.
