The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against journalist Ali Çağatay, who was arrested over a social media post. Prosecutors cited Çağatay’s post about the abduction of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Culture Inc. Deputy General Manager Erhan Karaal and sought a prison sentence of between six months and five years on charges of “publicly disseminating false information” and “publicly insulting the Police Organization.” The indictment was sent to a criminal court of first instance for review.
