The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an ex officio investigation following allegations that photographs and videos were taken in the courtroom in Silivri where the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality case is being heard. After the footage, reportedly taken during the hearing, was shared on social media, the prosecutor’s office instructed the Istanbul Police Department to identify the suspects. It was noted that the unauthorized recording and sharing of audio or video constitutes a crime under Article 286 of the Turkish Penal Code.
