The investigation started against 170 intellectuals, artists and politicians, who sent letters to the MPs against the Afrin Operation of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), was stopped. Prosecutor Muhammed Akif Ongun, conducting the investigation, asked for the order he sent to receive the statements of the suspects, to be returned without execution. The investigation has been opened on December 8, 2018, approximately 11 months after the letter was sent to the MPs based on the news made by AHaber news channel’s website on the letter. The news, entitled, “Stop the war, agree with PKK,” targeted peace advocates with the expressions, “The ‘petition team,’ known with their anti-national attitude they adopt in national matters of Turkey, are at work once again… The group, also signed under the petition scandal known as the ‘Academics for PEace’ made a call for a dialogue with terrorism against the national defense with the Afrin operation, sending a petition to the Parliament.”
