Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an ex officio investigation against CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır for “insulting the President” due to his remarks against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In a statement on his social media account, Tunç stated that Başarır’s statements “exceed the limits of freedom of expression and directly attack personal rights”.
