The Şırnak Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has prepared an indictment against Nedim Oruç, a reporter for Ajansa Welat, who was beaten, detained, and arrested on January 14 while covering news in Cizre. The prosecutor’s office requested that Oruç be punished for his news activities on charges of “making organization propaganda,” “unauthorized possession of dangerous materials,” “covering his face,” and “obstructing duty.” The Şırnak 1st Heavy Penal Court accepted the indictment and decided that the first hearing of the case would be held on April 24.
