According to data from the Freedom of Expression Association’s EngelliWeb project, following the annulment of Article 9 (violation of personal rights) of Law No. 5651, there has been a significant increase in the number of decisions issued on the grounds of Article 8/A (protection of national security and public order) compared to previous years. In 2025, hundreds of social media accounts, thousands of content and dozens of websites were blocked with at least 139 decisions issued by 64 different criminal judgeships of peace.
