According to a press freedom report by CHP Eskişehir MP Utku Çakırözer, journalists appeared in court 75 times in April. The report noted that the charge of “publicly disseminating misleading information” was heavily used in investigations and arrests targeting journalists. It was noted that journalists İsmail Arı and Alican Uludağ remain in detention. The report also noted that numerous lawsuits have been filed against journalists, access restrictions have been imposed, and the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has imposed fines on television channels.
