In 2024, 534,000 investigations were launched over alleged insults on social media.

During the discussion in the Turkish Grand National Assembly Justice Commission on including the crime of insult in the scope of pre-payment, the Ministry of Justice disclosed its 2024 data in response to a question from CHP member Turan Taşkın Özer. According to statistics shared by Deputy Minister Niyazi Acar, 534,505 investigations were opened for alleged insults on social media, 60,276 of which resulted in court cases; 11,161 people were convicted.
