Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer of IBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is under arrest in Çorlu Prison, criticized the decision to continue his detention at the hearing on July 17.
In a statement made on his social media account, Pehlivan stated that all of the “effective remorse” statements justified for his arrest were slander and that this situation was concretely proven.
“It was claimed that I arranged a lawyer, that person’s lawyer was the same person for 14 years. I have never attended the meeting I am accused of, I have never met the aforementioned teacher. The person who is said to have pressured me gave an effective remorse statement before me.”
