The lawyers of arrested Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor and CHP Presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu did not attend the monthly detention review. The lawyers submitted a petition and stated that they would not attend today’s and future examinations.
The court requested a lawyer from the Istanbul Bar Association and completed the review with the lawyer appointed by the bar association. The judge informed the Chief Prosecutor’s Office that the lawyers did not attend.
In their petition, the lawyers stated that the arrest decisions were unjustified, that the contents of the file were leaked to the press, that they learned about the decisions from the press and that they were informed at the last minute. Therefore, they announced that they would not participate in the process.
“We deliberately did not attend because we said ‘enough is enough’,” lawyer Fikret İlkiz said.
