The founder of Flu TV, İlker Canikligil, received a 2-year and 2-month prison sentence in a case where he was tried on charges of “openly inciting crime” and “openly inciting the public to hatred and hostility” due to statements made in a YouTube broadcast. The Istanbul 31st Criminal Court of First Instance suspended the sentence for 5 years and postponed the announcement of the verdict. Canikligil announced the decision on his social media account, stating, “I received a 26-month sentence, and a HAGB was granted.” Canikligil had made a Star Wars reference in the broadcast by saying “execute order 66,” after which an investigation was launched against him due to his social media post, and he was arrested on March 26. He was released on May 7.
