In the Kobane trial, defendants including Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ were acquitted of some charges. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality applied to the Court of Appeal to overturn the acquittals and demanded that the defendants be punished for damaging public property. The General Directorate of Security also requested that the acquittal of Sırrı Süreyya Önder be overturned. MHP did not appeal the case.
