The General Directorate of Security detained 209 people during operations conducted on March 24–25, 2026, in Istanbul, Izmir, Manisa, Siirt, and Bitlis, citing Newroz celebrations as the reason. The police carried out the detentions on charges of “organization propaganda” and violating Law No. 2911. Of the 38 people detained in Istanbul, 9 were arrested, and 26 were released under judicial supervision. In Diyarbakır, 18 people detained during home raids were also arrested on the same charges.
