On March 24, 2026, in Diyarbakır, journalist Abdullah Akyol was assaulted by a group of people while covering a story near the Ongözlü Bridge. It was reported that the attack was carried out in response to a previous news story Akyol had covered. After obtaining a medical report from the hospital, Akyol filed a criminal complaint against 10 individuals. The police began an investigation to identify the suspects by reviewing surveillance footage related to the incident.
