Fascist groups attacked students at Ankara University’s Faculty of Language, History and Geography (DTCF) who were distributing leaflets to announce a demonstration against cafeteria hikes on October 27. While the students repelled the attack, the police entered the campus and detained at least 9 students. The students are demanding the hikes to be withdrawn, library hours to be extended and campus hygiene problems to be solved. Students emphasized that “the interests of capital, not those of students, are being pursued” at the university under rector Necdet Ünüvar.
