Journalist and İlke TV commentator Ercüment Akdeniz, who is being tried on charges of “being a member of an organization” as part of an investigation into the Democratic Congress of Peoples, appeared at the third hearing of his case at the Istanbul 26th Heavy Penal Court. The hearing took place on February 10. Witness Ali Deli stated that he did not know Akdeniz and had no knowledge of the case file. Akdeniz repeated his previous defense. His lawyer, Özcan Karakoç, requested that the witness, who had not been heard, be dismissed and that the ban on leaving the country be lifted. The court decided not to hear the witness and sent the case file to the prosecutor’s office for a preliminary opinion. The hearing was postponed to June 2 at 2:30 p.m. The court ruled that the travel ban imposed on Akdeniz would remain in effect.
