In the trial of the police officers accused of driving Onur Yaser Can to suicide, the Istanbul 6th High Criminal Court rejected the request to file a criminal complaint regarding allegations of torture and driving to suicide. In the retrial following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the verdict, the court complied with the Supreme Court’s decision and ruled that only the convictions for forgery of official documents against the defendant police officers were valid. The court decided to file a criminal complaint regarding the allegations of tampering with, destroying, and concealing official documents, but excluded the torture allegations from this scope.
