Following the “We Are Marching for Justice for Rojava” protest held in Iğdır, Deniz Kaynar, co-chair of the DEM Party in Iğdır, was detained and later arrested by the court. A total of 48 people were detained during the protest on January 21. After undergoing procedures at the police station, 30 people were released. Of the 18 people referred to the courthouse, 15 were released by the prosecutor’s office, while 3 people, including Kaynar, were brought before the criminal court of peace. The court decided to arrest Deniz Kaynar. In the same case, Medet Serhat was placed under house arrest, while Halil Tören was released under judicial control and with a ban on leaving the country.
