Conscientious objector İnan Mayıs Aru was arrested on February 3, 2026, and sent to Çanakkale Open Prison after his prison sentence for “violating the Military Penal Code” became final. The Kütahya 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced Aru to 3 months and 22 days in prison on November 10, 2025, on the same charge and did not apply a good behavior reduction or a suspended sentence, citing his previous convictions. Aru was released on February 6, 2026, on probation. It was reported that there are three separate cases pending in appeal against Aru, with a total potential prison sentence of approximately 25 months.
