Kütahya 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced conscientious objector İnan Mayıs Aru to 5 months in prison. The court did not apply a discount on the grounds of Aru’s “crime-prone personality”. His lawyer appealed the verdict, stating that conscientious objection is a right and that ECtHR judgments were ignored. Aru also has individual applications pending before the Constitutional Court.
