Mehmet Ali Sancaktutan, who was detained last June for criticizing President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the economy during a street interview in Rize, was attacked by people who were stated to be Justice and Development Party (AKP) members. Sancaktutan filed a complaint against the attackers on the charge of “willful injury” by receiving a battering report.
