The SBE has ruled that the CHP Istanbul Extraordinary Provincial Congress can be held. However, Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance sent a letter demanding the congress to be suspended, stating that it would file a criminal complaint otherwise. CHP executives described the court decision as a “judicial coup”. Group Deputy Chair Ali Mahir Başarır and Deputy Chair Burhanettin Bulut stated that the decision is unconstitutional and called on the HSK to take action.
