Sociologist Berfin Azdal, who was tried as part of the HDK investigation conducted in Istanbul, was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison at the hearing on December 26. The court ruled that Azdal was guilty of “membership in an organization.” Azdal’s lawyers announced that they would appeal the decision.
