The 42nd hearing of the case concerning the death of Ahmet Yıldız, who was killed by his father in 2008 because he was gay, was held on December 26 at the Istanbul Anatolia 5th Heavy Penal Court. The court rejected requests to hear testimony from Ahmet Yıldız’s mother and sister and ruled to uphold the arrest warrant for the fugitive defendant, his father Yahya Yıldız. The trial was postponed until September 10, 2026. The hearing was observed by LGBT+ organizations and human rights institutions.
