The case of Berat Kaşkaloğlu, who was dismissed from his master’s program at Boğaziçi University’s graduation ceremony for protesting the rector appointments, has been brought to the agenda of the Parliament.
Although Kaşkaloğlu was accepted to the Chemical Engineering Master’s program, he was banned from entering the university campus and dismissed from the program because he carried a banner reading “The trustees will go, we will stay” during the ceremony.
CHP İzmir MP Yüksel Taşkın described the practice as “usurpation of the right to education” and criticized the arbitrary decisions of the Boğaziçi administration by bringing the issue to the Parliament. Taşkın stressed that there are other students who have been victimized in a similar way.
