On March 23, 2026, while Yağız Ekmen was filming the crowd that had gathered in front of jewelry stores in the Yukarı Çarşı neighborhood of Bolu following a drop in gold prices, he was assaulted by the store owner, K.Y. K.Y. and the person with him punched Ekmen and forced him to delete the footage from his camera. Following the incident, Ekmen filed a complaint. After the police arrived at the scene, K.Y. and the person with him, who had fled, were apprehended and taken into custody shortly thereafter. The Bolu Journalists and Writers Association condemned the attack.
