As part of an investigation conducted by the Balıkesir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, house raids were carried out in the city on the morning of February 17, 2026. At least nine people, including DEM Party Edremit district administrators and Polen Ecology Collective activists, were detained during the raids. Those detained were taken to the police station in Balıkesir. Authorities did not comment on the scope of the investigation or the grounds for the detentions.
