The 43rd Civil Chamber of Istanbul Regional Court reversed the local court decree that convicted journalist, editor and children’s rights advocate Ayla Türksoy to 1000 Turkish Liras of compensation due to her tweet that criticized Turkcell for sponsoring Ensar Foundation. The appeal court decided that the local court decree has “violated the right to freedom of expression, which is guaranteed and protected by the Constitution as well as international conventions.”
