The objection to the arrest of journalist Furkan Karabay on charges of ‘insulting the president’ and ‘targeting people who took part in the fight against terrorism’ was rejected by the court on duty. Karabay was arrested on May 15 due to his news reports on Ekrem İmamoğlu, Ahmet Özer and Resul Emrah Şahan. His lawyer Enes Ermaner stated that the decision was unjustified and unlawful. Karabay’s X account was also blocked on May 16.
