The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into T24 writer Tolga Şardan on charges of “violating the confidentiality of the investigation.” The investigation was launched following an article written about the crash of the plane carrying Libyan Chief of Staff Muhammad Ali Al-Haddad. In his January 13 article, Şardan wrote that after the crash, the flight attendant on duty was detained and interrogated in Ankara at the initiative of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT). The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated proceedings on the grounds that this information violated the confidentiality of the investigation. The plane carrying the Libyan delegation crashed near Haymana on December 23. While the investigation into the crash is ongoing, it has been announced that the black box will be examined in the UK.
