Van Yüzüncü Yıl University lecturer Balkar Selçuk Bağlar was released from prison where he had been held for 1 month due to his social media posts.
Bağlar was subjected to racist attacks when he objected to the claim that the Egyptian pyramids were built by Turks, and was arrested on July 11 on charges of “insulting the signs of sovereignty of the state” and “public incitement to hatred and hostility” for his response.
Bağlar was released from Van High Security Closed Prison following an appeal by his lawyers.
