On March 26, 2026, the Istanbul 24th High Criminal Court ruled that it lacked jurisdiction in the case against human rights defender Nimet Tanrıkulu, who was on trial on charges of “membership in an organization.” The court transferred the case to Diyarbakır, lifted Tanrıkulu’s obligation to sign in regularly, and upheld the ban on her leaving the country. The limitation on the number of attorneys present at the hearing caused tension.
