Deniz Yolcu, who climbed onto a water cannon during a police intervention ahead of Özgür Özel’s rally in Izmir, was arrested by the court on May 27. Yolcu, who reportedly suffered a broken nose and was at risk of a head injury during the police assault, was arrested on charges of violating Law No. 2911, property damage, and resisting the performance of official duties. Another individual tried in the same case was released on judicial supervision.
